It's simple, I love running and most of all I love running in bare feet!  While I did start in shoes like almost all runners, I quickly moved into barefoot shoes.  Then, after about 5 years of road marathons I took the plunge and threw the shoes away altogether!  Since then I have run two road marathons in bare feet without a scratch.  Rocky trails were much harder and after about a year of trying I couldn't get past 25km without doing damage so I'm now back in minimal Vibrams which seems to be the perfect compromise.  I still do grass oval speed work barefoot which is awesome.  Fast forward a couple years I have completed two 100km ultras in Vibram V-Trails and while my feet were mostly fine for that distance, my goal of completing a 100 miler is not going to happen in such minimal shoes.  Research led me to Altra's Lone Peak shoes, which so far have been amazing.  Zero drop and barefoot feel might be the next compromise I need to reach my goal.  Guess we'll see!

I set myself a goal this year of running a barefoot half marathon by the end of the year.  Since my training had gone so well I thought I should bring this goal forward by about 8 months and give it a go.  I had the barefoot distance under my belt but as it was my first event I was a little anxious.

This event was a first for me!  I was registering for the Central Cost half marathon and noticed some advertising about a sand dune run over Stockton beach.  I thought to myself it would be bloody tough but it was only 10ks and only $30.00 to enter, so without another thought, I entered.  Shortly after I thought, I'd better go

For the Fernleigh 15 this year we planned to get as many members of the Telligence Run Club involved as possible.  Thankfully, we had enough team members sign up to enter a team in the relay leg and Kat, our awesome web designer, decided to step up and tackle the full 15k!

With a disappointing run in Sydney marathon four weeks ago I was more than determined to break my PB of 3:45:11, which I set two years ago in Sydney.  I have never run two marathons within a month before so I was a little concerned about how my body would go but by all accounts the ITB trouble I had in Sydney was all but gone so I was hopeful.

This year for Blackmores I was feeling the most prepared I had ever felt for a marathon.  My training program had all gone well, I was fighting fit and injury free.  A personal best was in the air, I just had to keep it together for 42.195ks!

Arriving in Sydney on Saturday I did my usual ritual of head down Darling

I wouldn't normally do a 10k event but given lots of people from my company's run club were going in it I thought I'd best get involved and have a fun day.  So on with the event!

When life gives you lemons, you go running!  Not that I'm one to complain but life's thrown some freakin' mammoth sized lemons at me in the last month that have really been a big blow both spiritually, mentally and physically.  In any case, I'm so thankful to have a hobby that keeps me fit in all those regards so this event

After running the Fernleigh 15 in late October, I thought it would be good to run one last race for the year before things got too hot and too close to Christmas to be bothered!  I've looked at this race for the last couple years and thought it would be worth giving it a go so this was the perfect excuse.

I really wished I wasn't still getting over man flu and an injured calf for this event.  I missed a few of the longest weeks of training and it really trashed my endeavours of finishing well under the 3:45:00 I posted last year.  All good, though, plan B was now in effect, which was just bloody run and hope like hell I make it!

Got to love it.  I just started getting back into it from a minor calf injury only to be struck down with the man flu...

It was a 16k Friday then a 32k Saturday that caused the injury.  I actually didn't notice I had done any harm until my recovery run on Monday.  It was on my way back that I started
