29k Sunday...

The next few Sundays will mark the longest distances I've ran — hopefully!

This Sundays run at least was a great success.  Nice and sunny, bearable wind speed, and other friendly runners along the way.  One thing to note that was quite funny:  I was 5k's into the 29k and had just reached my first turn around point.  A smiling couple rode past having a drink from their water bottles and one of them made the passing comment, "had enough have we", to which I responded, "no, I've got another 24k to go", which resulted in one of them promptly spitting their mouthful of water with a resounding "bloody hell!".  Needless to say, that made the remaining 24k a fairly light–hearted affair!

I'm getting to a point now that the first 20k's are pretty much a formality — albeit a 6minute per kilometre formality, so not breaking any land speed records!  The remaining 9 were pretty good.  I managed to keep a 6minute kilometre pace which was the goal.  It's amazing how tough things got from 26k onwards for the remaining 3k.

Next week I will having a crack at breaking the coveted (in my mind anyway) 30km mark, with the first of two planned 32km runs.
