Barefoot Journey Thus Far

Up until this point my barefoot running had been going awesome.  I was up to a 24km long run totalling a 50km+ week, all in bare feet and feeling great.   I was just back from a couple weeks off so super keen to get back into it but fate had a different plan... 

On my way over to Johny's house I was walking up to his backdoor and promptly went tits up over his back steps.  I was carrying his wife's laptop that I had just fixed and as I didn't want to break it I just held on tight and rode it to the ground.  My head narrowly missed a dog bowl full of water before both hounds pounced on my face and commenced licking me.  All I could hear from the house was Johny and Libby pissing themselves at the spectacle I had just provided.  I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry so I did both.

The next morning on my run I realised I had done some damage.  My groin was really sore on one side and my lower calf was also in a fair amount of pain.  This obviously wasn't good so I had the week off.  The following week things hadn't improved much so after a brief attempt at running I had another week off.

It's now four weeks and a physio trip later and things are just starting to improve.  My groin is fine but my calf is still struggling.  I managed a 16km run yesterday and only mild pain today so we will see how it plays out.  I really want to be ready for Blackmores Sydney Marathon in September but we will see how it goes over the coming weeks.
