Last week I hit 60km a week again, which is almost back to where I need to be in prep for Mount Solitary 45km in April and then UTA100 in May! I still don't know how I'm going to manage UTA100 by May but I just need to trust my training and hopefully make it through without injury.

And then tragedy struck... Just when I was in my longest training weeks before tapering for GNW50K something in my left foot felt a little off. There was a pain there that just wasn't normal.

GNW part two—taking on the Jungle! Man I was so excited for this stretch. My coach made it very clear that I was going to get lost through this section so be super careful and take note of where the trail ended before I got lost. Obviously I trust her instruction but I had no idea how true those words would be!

Now that I'm back in shoes I've been able to really pick up the kilometres and get out exploring rocky areas I couldn't before. Well, I could but it was slow and after about 20km I would get tired and kick the end of my toes off and that's simply not fun.

Well, it was a bloody hard decision to give up on this barefoot trail quest but I after the last couple weeks of injuries I feel it's time to let it go.

Well, it's been a few months since my last barefoot trail update and man has it been a roller coaster! Plenty of highs and lows but my love of trails is growing significantly, which is awesome. Road running is officially dead to me! Well, I will still run a few events here and there but trails are definitely the focus.

Up until this point my barefoot running had been going awesome. I was up to a 24km long run totalling a 50km+ week, all in bare feet and feeling great. I was just back from a couple weeks off so super keen to get back into it but fate had a different plan...
