Little Wobby isn't technically a part of the GNW but it is a part of the GNW 100 course so I'm including it!

This exploration started off at Patonga beach, which is the start of the race.  I followed the GNW course up the climb to Warrah Lookout and wow was it incredible.  It was then mostly fire trail until near

This week it was back to Girrakool but striking out towards Somersby to check out the other section of GNW.  Just like last week this was incredibly beautiful but subtly different.

I first made the descent along Piles Creek and over the suspension bridge then made my way along Mooney Mooney Creek and under the Mooney Mooney bridge,

Gearing up for GNW 100K it was time to do a little more exploration and see what I was in for!  This time I headed down to Girrakool to go visit Mt Wondabyne, the highest point on the Central Coast.

The route was 30km in total and was an out-and-back which consisted mostly of technical single trail and a little bit

Last week I hit 60km a week again, which is almost back to where I need to be in prep for Mount Solitary 45km in April and then UTA100 in May!  I still don't know how I'm going to manage UTA100 by May but I just need to trust my training and hopefully make it through without injury.

The last 6 weeks of building 10% per

And then tragedy struck...  Just when I was in my longest training weeks before tapering for GNW50K something in my left foot felt a little off.  There was a pain there that just wasn't normal.

My foot was a little sore after my Saturday long run but I didn't think much of it.  I still went for my Sunday

GNW part two—taking on the Jungle!  Man I was so excited for this stretch.  My coach made it very clear that I was going to get lost through this section so be super careful and take note of where the trail ended before I got lost.  Obviously I trust her instruction but I had no idea how true those words would be!

Since I signed up for GNW50K my coach thought I'd better spend some time out on the course and I couldn't be happier as I had been itching to check out some of the GNW.  Now with Raffertys out of the way it was time for some new exploration.  The first leg I was to explore was from Wakefield Rural Fire Service through to Heaton

Now that I'm back in shoes I've been able to really pick up the kilometres and get out exploring rocky areas I couldn't before. Well, I could but it was slow and after about 20km I would get tired and kick the end of my toes off and that's simply not fun.

With the Rafferty's Run coming up I thought I might spend

Well, it was a bloody hard decision to give up on this barefoot trail quest but I after the last couple weeks of injuries I feel it's time to let it go.

In the last couple weeks we've seen the last of daylight saving time and the mornings have been quite dark so a headlamp has become a necessity again.  This fateful

Well, it's been a few months since my last barefoot trail update and man has it been a roller coaster!  Plenty of highs and lows but my love of trails is growing significantly, which is awesome.  Road running is officially dead to me! Well, I will still run a few events here and there but trails are definitely the focus.
