So for the last few months my coach, Melissa, finally roped my in to running some trails with the Night Owls & Possums (a branch of the Wooters).  Turns out trails are awesome and the Wooters are a great bunch of people.  This has only taken place on Friday nights and I have been running in

Up until this point my barefoot running had been going awesome.  I was up to a 24km long run totalling a 50km+ week, all in bare feet and feeling great.   I was just back from a couple weeks off so super keen to get back into it but fate had a different plan...

On my way over to Johny's house I was walking

Got to love it.  I just started getting back into it from a minor calf injury only to be struck down with the man flu...

It was a 16k Friday then a 32k Saturday that caused the injury.  I actually didn't notice I had done any harm until my recovery run on Monday.  It was on my way back that I started

I don't know what it is but this winter I have really felt the cold.  Perhaps I'm getting soft, or perhaps its been colder.  Either way, it hasn't been pleasant...

For the first time in the last few years I have actually been running with a jacket on.  Shock horror, right!  Now, I know that

Six months ago my mate Wom came to me and said he was signing up with a running coach in preparation for a marathon he was training for.  It was no surprise this trainer's focus was on proper form and running efficiently.  The surprise was, he recommended a good dose of literal barefoot running, which until this point, I hadn't

Final training run is now over, which now only leaves the marathon in two days time...

This final training run concluded the gruelling sixteen week marathon training program.  In my opinion, as a very unprofessional runner, it has been a bloody long sixteen weeks!

In two days time

Decided to do this long run on Saturday morning before heading to Whippfest for the long weekend!

Lately I've been covering fair distances on an empty stomach, without any sustenance along the way — typically up to the 16k mark.  To be honest, I didn't think 8 extra k's would be too much to handle, but I was

I've got to say, the lead up to this run was nothing short of nerve–racking!  After having last Sundays long run (24K) off, I was feeling fresh and ready for the 35.5k run ahead — or at least I thought I was!

I decided it was a wise move to get up early and tackle this run before it got too hot.

After the brutal experience of cracking the 30k mark last Sunday, I was a little apprehensive about how things would go today — especially since the k's during the week had also increased marginally.

Kicked off about 8:30am on Sunday morning after a decent bowl of oats and dried fruit to help spur me along.  I

As previously noted, this week again is breaking ground distance wise, with my first of two 32k long runs.  The weather was picture perfect — sun up, birds singing, you know how the rest goes.

This run kicked off like every other run, taking a few kilometres to warm–up.  After the typical 10k warm–up period,
